In-School Enrichment

palm tree

We are excited to announce that the PTA wil be providing in-school enrichment programs on early release dates this school year.  Another goal is to provide science and math enrichment for all grades.

We have an enthusiastic committee that would appreciate help.  Please volunteer for the In-School Enrichment committee if you would like to be involved.

Big news!  Keep Cobb Beautiful is scheduled for our first early release day, September 16!

Let’s Go Green!

On September 16, Keep Cobb Beautiful, a department of Cobb County Government, will be providing an environmental education program for our students. The program will concentrate on recycling and teaching students how they can be more environmentally responsible. Information will be provided for the teachers on how they can continue to go green in their classroom and become a Cobb County “Green Classroom.” Let’s kick off our new school year with a focus on going green!

AU Raptors To Visit Due West

On October 15 we will welcome the Southeastern Raptor Center, a division of the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. The center will provide a multimedia presentation that will teach our students about birds of prey, their habitats, conversation and ecology. The staff typically brings six birds of prey with them to allow students to see the birds up close and hopefully if our gym is large enough they will be able to provide a flight demonstration. Whether you’re a GA Bulldog, Ramblinwreck or yelling “War Eagle” in the fall, this should be an exciting program for everyone!

Teachers – Below is a link to the AU Raptor Center website. The “For Kids” section provides activities and information that you can use in the classroom. The activities are a bit advanced, but the sections ‘Know the Birds’ and ‘Listen to the Sounds’ would be appropriate for younger grades.
