Hi Room Moms,

Thank you for volunteering to be room mom for your child’s classroom!  My name is Susan Piotrowski and I will be the room mom coordinator for this school year.

Please read over the following rules/guidelines.  If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.  Links for letters are included in this email, but can also be found on the Room Mom page on the PTA website.

  1. All letters sent home in Thursday Folders must be one of the approved form letters below.  Any changes or additions must be approved by our principal or assistant principal.

  1. Meet with your teacher as soon as possible to go over his/her expectations and ideas for the year.  It is up to the teacher as to when there will be celebrations/activities during the school year.  Have the teacher fill out the “Favorite Things” form.  At some point before your teacher’s birthday or the holidays, pass this form onto parents so they can have gift ideas.

  1. Send the form “Room Mom Introduction Letter”.  Do not use the regular white paper that is in the copy machines.  Please use the blue paper that is in the PTA room or your own paper.

  1. Dinner & a Movie Night –Sat, Oct 2            We would appreciate it if you could send home the Dinner and a Movie letter asking for volunteers and donations in the Sep 9 Thursday folder.  If you cannot make it to school on Sep 7 or 8 to make copies, email me by noon on Tuesday, Sep 7 and I will be glad to make the copies and deliver to the teacher for you.  Parents have already received a request for donations for class Silent Auction baskets.  You do not need to place items in a basket; please compile items in a bag or box and Tara Leggett will collect from the classroom on September 12.

  1. You may be asked to share information with parents in your class as the year goes by.  We will give as much notice as possible.  At Due West we ask that you use email as much as possible to save paper.

  1. You will be asked to coordinate volunteers to assist with Teacher Appreciation Week in February.  More info to come as the week is planned.

  1. Please be aware that all money/gifts/donations collected by room moms are strictly voluntary and parents should not feel pressured to contribute.  If you decide to collect for a class gift for the teacher, it is a good idea to give parents at least two weeks notice.
