WOW!

“Wow!”  is theme for the 2008-2009 PTA sponsored Reflections Program.
Reflections is an art program for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.  It is an opportunity for  every student to express themselves in any or all of six art categories,  These categories are:
Visual Arts
Literature
Photography
Musical Composition
Dance Chorography
Film/Video Production

At Due West, our 2008-2009 Reflections program is starting now.  And what a great theme for our kids to express-   WOW!

Interested students should submit their artwork that expresses their best interpretation of WOW!
All the forms and instructions that are needed can be downloaded from the Georgia PTA website.  There is a list of instructions and rules for each category along with the official entry form.

This is what you need to do for your students who are entering the contest.  Please download:
1. The general rules
2. The specific rules for the art category being entered
3. The official entry form

Every entry MUST contain an artists statement on the entry form, and student and parent signatures.  The entry deadline at Due West is October 8, 2008.  All entries must be turned in that morning between 7:15-7:50AM in the cafeteria.  Judging will occur during the next week.  The first and second place winners of each category will be sent to the Tom Mathis PTA council for the next level of judging.  All of our entrants will be recognized at an awards ceremony sometime during the school year.

Got an idea for a Reflections theme?  Then by all means, you should fill out a Theme Search form!!  You can access the form on the above web-site.  Fill it out and return it to school no later than October 1st.  Your idea will be forwarded to the Georgia State Reflections office.  Your winning submission could win $100!

The PTA Reflections Program also encourages our special needs students to participate in the program.  If you have a student in includion, containment or resource classes, they can enter Reflections as a Georgia Special Artist.  Please download the Special Artist entry form and submit the studen’s entry on October 8th.  Please make sure the entry form is signed by the studen, parent and Special Education teacher.  If you have any questions, please contact our Reflections Committee Chair, Pam Smith at 770-420-5667 or reflections@duewestpta.com
